The raki will be flowing next month as DLA Piper expands into Turkey. The world's biggest law firm is opening in Istanbul after taking on six partners from local firm YKK.
The move, which will be marked by a reception attended by prominent local businesspeople and diplomats, will take the number of DLA Piper offices to 68 in 30 countries. Turkey is the last European member of the G20 in which DLA Piper doesn't yet have a presence.
Among other things, DLA Piper, through its Italian arm, has been advising the Turkish health ministry on the financing of a 1,500-bed hospital in Kayseri under the country's first healthcare PPP project.
Sir Nigel Knowles, the firm's co-chief executive, said: "This is an extremely important step for us and will enhance our ability to serve the needs of our clients, and increasing number of whom are doing business in Turkey.
"Turkey's importance on the international stage is growing and our strategic vision guides us to continue to invest in such key growth markets around the world."
