Nisantasi
Nisantasi is a distict in
Istanbul,Sisli,where usually rich people are living at.Center of Nisantasi is the cross road where Vali Konagi street and Tesvikiye streets join,and it includes the parts near to the Vali Konagi street of the districts Mesrutiyet and Tesvikiye,.It is bounded with Macka,Harbiye,Osmanbey and Tesvikiye.
Nisantasi was the place during Ottoman Empire,where sultans were using as a hunting district,and they were placing some stones for shooting.The name of Nisantasi appears like this,Nisan means"shooting by rifle or gun" and Tas means "stone".Sultan Selim III. built the first shooting stone in the district on 1791.Nisantasi became a residance district in the period of sultan Abdulmecit.On the second half of 19th century Nisantasi became popular ,as the sultans moved to
Yildiz Palace from
Dolmabahce Palace,and as it was near to
Pera(Beyoglu).
Until 1930's Nisantasi was the district of mansions,but in the course of time apartments were built like the nearby districts and mostly rich people prefered to live here.During 1970's Nisantasi became very popular shopping center for well known brands as
Istiklal Avenue,in
Beyoglu lost its popularity.Still Nisantasi continues its attractiveness with luxurious shops,cafe and restaurants.
